This is an exciting time, full of surprise, anxiety, and decision-making. There are many things to keep in mind. Here are some of them:
Determine Your Price Range: You can do this with the help of your mortgage broker/banker. This is also the time to get your pre-approval letter from your lender.
Our Initial Meeting: We will meet to talk about what you must have and what you’d like to have. This will be the basis of the search.
Search for Homes: once we narrow your search criteria, I will be able to send you available homes via email from RMLS.
Your Own Search: You can also search on Redfin, Zillow, or RMLS. Let me know what you find that looks interesting. And if you drive by something and want more information, just give me the address or even just the street name, and I can help.
Important to Consider:
- Neighborhood Amenities
- Square footage of home & lot
- Parking & Storage
- Age of home
- Condition (i.e. are you willing to do some upgrades or do you want all that to be done?)
- HOA fees
Preview: You can do a Google Earth search. Look on portlandmaps.com, if in the City of Portland. After that, do a quick drive-by if you are not familiar with the neighborhood. Then, ask me to show you the property.
At the Home: When you are out looking at a house, see how it matches your identified criteria. You will quickly find out what is really important and what you can compromise on.
